Sage exists to be a steady place to talk things through. That has to be true for everyone — including people who use a screen reader, need larger text, or find motion difficult. Accessibility is a design requirement for us, not a retrofit.

The Sage app for iPhone

Sage is built to Apple's accessibility standards. In the app:

• Every control carries a VoiceOver label, and crisis-support screens are operable with VoiceOver in a single swipe sequence.
• Dynamic Type is fully supported up to the largest accessibility sizes, without truncating safety notices or disclosures.
• Tap targets meet the 44-point minimum.
• Text and interface colors maintain a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, in light and dark mode.
• The Reduce Motion setting is respected — streamed replies simply appear as complete text instead of animating.

This website

This site is intentionally simple, which is good for accessibility:

• Semantic HTML, navigable by keyboard and screen reader; it works with no JavaScript because it contains none.
• Light and dark appearance follow your system preference, and animation is disabled when your system asks for reduced motion.
• Text is resizable without loss of content, and color contrast targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
• Phone and text crisis lines are real links, so they work with one tap or activation.

Our standard

We aim for conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA on this website, and with Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for accessibility in the app. Testing with VoiceOver and at the largest Dynamic Type sizes is part of our release checklist, with the consent and crisis-support screens checked first.
